Hey, It's El Presidente'

I'm so sorry Brian and I could not make it to the Grubfest. We bought a new car and didn't calculate when we went in at 11 that morning that it would take until 4:30 that afternoon to actually get home from buying one. We wanted to be there, trust me..

But, I got a picture of us all at the wedding, thought I'd share it:

Take care all, and have a safe and happy summer to those of you leaving good ol' T-town for awhile.

BUDGET
================
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OTS Treasurer: Peyton Blankenship - blank001@bama.ua.edu

OTS has $87.50.
$40 of the will go to the UA Ferguson Theatre to pay for the Showcase.
That leaves OTS with $47.50.

- A funding proposal was made by Peyton Blankenship to pay Jessica Richards $15 for a pattern used for a costume for Peace for Jonah Taylor. The pattern is vintage and had to be ordered off the Internet. The vote passed unanimously.

*- The question was brought up about who should pay for the entry fee to film festivals. It was decided that, because OTS is young, the individual filmmaker should pay. In the future, distribution costs will be budgeted.
- It was also decided that a minimum of 25% of the profit made from festivals will be given to OTS. If the contributor wants to give more, it will be graciously received. Contributors get a minimum of what they put in to pay for the festival costs.
- Lee suggested that money made from the festivals could be put towards equipment for OTS.

PROMOTION/MARKETING

Off the Set DVD - August
Jarrod Crowe - crowdog54@yahoo.com
Jessica Richards - uaactor@gmail.com
Ben Stark - stark007@yahoo.com
Brian Sorrells - Briansterling2000@yahoo.com

OTS will be producing a two-disc DVD over the summer to be given away by August. It was decided that we will not sell the DVDs; one because there is registered music in a couple of the films, and two, because OTS is young and right now, we want feedback and to get our name out there, not make a profit. However, donations WILL be accepted for the DVDs. They should be ready for distribution by the Summer Showcase.

Jarrod Crowe and Jessica Richards will be producing the DVDs. Brian Sorrells will be the technical director. Ben Stark will be contributing design plans.

***BUT LET IT BE KNOWN:
Even though Jarrod and I are producing the DVD, it's all of ours and that we will all get a large say in it. It will not be treated like a movie, it will be treated very communistically. So any input any of you want to give, then go for it!
This is all of our work and we should all have equal say in it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OTS Website

As you can see, our meeting notes are getting much more elaborate, which is a good thing. But OTS definitely needs a website.

I will be talking to Josh Converse about building a website for OTS. We would like for it to be up-and-running by June 1st. If Josh is not able to build it, Brian Sorrells and Tom Huggins will be in charge of building and maintaining the site.

It was also discovered that otsfilms.com has not been taken. It is now.

More details coming soon...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OTS Catalog

Ben and Lee have begun compiling OTS productions and keeping up with clippings, promotions, etc. But it was decided that OTS needed a historian. Katie Hicks was nominated and voted into office.

So if you have anything you would like to discuss with Katie about cataloging OTS, e-mail her at kdhicks@bama.ua.edu.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Calender

I am working on an OTS calender that you can all view and get an idea of what our weeks will look like. I may end up using the calender provided by this account until we have the website up which will definitely have a calender provided.

So more details on that coming soon...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Congratulations to...

Lee and Peyton on their engagement!
Off the Set for a very successful Spring Showcase!
Brian and Kalee on their wedding!
Black Rock Creek for receiving the TCF Best Narrative Award!
David Possien and Steven Lucas for their nominations at the TCF Awards Showcase!
Katie Hicks for being elected as Historian!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you made it this far in the e-mail congratulations and thank you! I hope all of you are as excited as I am about the future of OTS! We have a lot to do this summer! Plan on a June meeting between the 1st and the 9th!

Have a great week!
- Jessica Richards
OTS Rep./Sec.

If you would like to be removed from the e-mail list, respond to this e-mail in a kind and friendly manner, and I'll think about it.

If you would like to send a donation to the fund in memory of Kerry, mail it to the address below with the check made out to Kristy Wells with a note informing her that it's for the Kerry Sims Memorial Fund. Because of Kerry's love of nature, the fund is going to the Montgomery Zoo. The money will go towards a rock or plaque of some sort that will probably be placed around the reptiles and/or snakes. This suits Kerry and is what he would have wanted.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of one of our most beloved members of Off the Set, Kerry Sims. He passed away on Sunday, April 23rd. Cause of death is still unknown, though it is assumed presently that it was either an asthmatic attack or possibly an heart attack. Funeral arrangements are also undetermined at this time.

Please be in prayer for Kerry's friends and family. He will be deeply missed.

MONTHLY MEETING: YES? NO?
PLEASE RESPOND!!!
I know we just had a meeting for April, but May is next week so do we want to have a May meeting during Dead Week? Maybe to discuss the summer before classes end and we all go do our summer thang. It's up to you guys. Tuesday through Wednesday would probably be best. The UA Film & Video Showcase is the 4th, right? So I'm guessing not that night. If we do decide to have one next week, start sending me anything you want brought up at the meeting. I'll gather everything together and send out the topics that will be discussed so everyone will be prepared.

OTS'S DISTURBING SILLY SCRIPT:
Oh and I found the "one-line-each" script in my purse that OTS wrote while eating at the Showcase Shindig. A bit disturbing...

A: This is not how you "woo" someone! You need to shave.
B: At least I trimmed under the balls.
C: Hey you guys need to chill.
B: Did you see Brokeback Mountain?
A: Was David Kilgo in that one?
C: Yeah, he was the "catcher" if you know what I mean.
A: That's disgusting...you got a match?
C: Hell yeah.
A: The fireman is holding a soccer ball and salsa!
B: I don't think we need this "C" character...someone just couldn't think of anything better.
C: I highly resent that. Wooo(?), I knock over your salsa!
A: Nooooo!! You heartless cad!
C: Hence, I am back in the script.
A: Not for long, you cad without a heart.
C: He has found my one flaw. Karate chop!
A: Blocked, you sans heart cad.
B: Stop it, you two! I oughta cut you both out!
C: Yeah so I bought 30 cases of pickles from the cannery(?) today.
B: You know, I am from the Piper Clan. Maybe you and I can discuss pickles later.
A: This is Alabama football.
B: This is worse than the time I played strip poker with Gary Coleman.
B: He dealt cards under the table.
C: But still came up short.
A: That's rude...but clever.
C: Gary Coleman is short.
C: Unlike my penis, such as it is.

Um...wow. I have nothing to follow that.

Have a fabtabulous week, OTS kids!
- Jessica

I could not find anything about taking up money on this webpage, can someone else use their good eyes to try and find it. If I know who to talk to, I can go talk to them and ask about accepting donations.

Event Policy

But I did find this.

Chalking

Chalking is a wonderful and inexpensive way to advertise or promote programs and events.

*
Chalking is only permitted on natural gray concrete sidewalks and streets that are subject to being washed by the rain. No chalking can occur on sidewalks or building entrances that are covered by a shelter of any type.
*
Absolutely no chalking is allowed on the Ferguson Plaza, Ferguson stairs or on the Crimson Promenade.
*
Chalking is not permitted on any type of brick or concrete pavers.
*
Chalking is not allowed on walls, doors, windows, trees or any other surfaces around Ferguson Center.
*
The type of chalk used must be washable.
*
Student organizations or who violate this policy may be charged for time and materials to remove the chalk. Failure to adhere to the guidelines may also result in disciplinary action according to the Code of Student Conduct.
